Honoring the past, Pursuing the future-that's the challange of change. And that's why Tucson, Arizona is proud to host the 47th International Science and Engineering Fair.
ISEF will bring almost 1,200 of the world's brightest high school students to Tucson, where the wisdom of ancient cultures, the spirit of the frontier and the pursuit of science and technology converge. Against a backdrop of Tucson's towerin g saguaros and clear desert skies, they will experience uparalleled international competition, scientific exploration, and intercultural exchange.
For six days, students from the United States, its territories, and 37 other countries will compete to be the "best of the best." They'll seek global recognition in 18 catagories, ranging from botany to physics to medicine to environmental sciences . And they'll display the mind-stretching, award winning projects that made them all winners at 431 participating ISEF competitions around the globe.
The competition among these talented student scientists is fierce and the rewards impressive. International winners will recieve scholarships as well as trips to Europe and Japan. But's that's just the beginning.
Along with their parents, teachers and mentors, these students will spend six sun-spashed days experiencing the best that Tucson has to offer: excursions, exhibits, cultural events, parties, shopping and more. They'll tour Old Tucson and explore B iosphere 2. They'll learn. They'll make new friends. They'll have fun. And they'll return home far richer for the experiences they have shared.
